Do you open for Bank Holidays?

No. On Bank Holidays and over the period between Christmas and New Year we are closed.

Do you have a garden?

Yes we have a large garden, which offers a variety of play surfaces and various equipment to enhance all areas of learning outdoors.

Do we take children on trips?

Yes. We may go on various walks around St Peter Port, to the park or various destinations around the Island in our nursery vehicle which is equipped with car seats. Larger trips may be advised of in the future.

How do we know our child’s routine?

Your child’s typical day routine will be on display in their base room. You will also have the opportunity to talk to your child’s key worker/s on arrival at nursery. They will go through what your child will been doing on that particular day.

My child has an allergy, I’m worried about him being exposed?

When your child starts nursery you will be given an information pack. There are relevant forms to complete if your child has an allergy, where you will highlight the allergy, symptoms of the allergy, and the treatment needed. All staff throughout the nursery will be notified, and of course, the nursery cook.

What happens if my child is unwell? Can you give medication?

Call us as soon as possible to let us know your child will not be in.If your child becomes unwell at Little Angels we will phone you and ask you to pick your child up asap. You will still be charged during this time.

We have an illness and infection policy with periods of exclusion forsome contagious infections. This is reviewed in accordance to Health and Social Services guidelines. A cough and cold and regular childhood illnesses can be managed. If any medicine is to be administered, prior consent must be given. In an emergency we may seek telephone consent to administer pain/fever relief.

If your child ever has sickness and/or diarrhea they MUST be kept off school at least 48 hours after the last episode.If your child is prescribed antibiotics please keep them off nursery for 24 hours after the initial dose in case of an allergic reaction.

My child has asthma is that a problem?

No. We are able to administer inhalers with your consent. Ideally it is worth having an extra inhaler to leave at nursery at all times.

Are you able to provide first aid if my child gets injured?

Yes, the majority of our staff are trained in first aid. Parents will be contacted immediately in case of a serious injury. We also ask
parents to complete a consent form for emergency treatment.

Are your staff qualified and checked for suitability?

All staff are under the Health and Social Service rules and regulations. They all must complete an enhanced CRB check in order to
work with children. The Nursery Manager will check all references given and will not allow a member of staff to work in the nursery unless the CRB check is back and clear.

The qualifications amongst our team meet the current welfare requirements. We have two staff who hold a HNC Level 5 and the majority of all other staff have are Level 3 qualified.

How many children can Little Angels care for at one time?

We are licensed to provide day nursery places for 36 children aged between 3 months and 5 years at one time.

Does the nursery have cameras to take pictures of the children?

The nursery does have a nursery camera to take photographs for a child’s development evidence and journey books. The camera is kept in the Manager’s Office (?) at the end of the nursery day. We also have a mobile phone policy that all the staff must adhere to. All mobile phones are kept in the staff room and are not taken anywhere else in the building under any circumstances.

What happens if we go away on holiday?

Inform Carlee or a member of staff in your childs room which days your child will be away. You will still be charged during this time.

What shall my child wear?

They are going to be meeting paints, glues, clays, water and other materials that may possibly stain or mark clothing. Although we have protective clothing, your child is bound to get dirty, so don’t put them in their best clothing!

We go out in almost every sort of weather, so your child will need a warm coat for autumn, winter and spring. Please remember, we try to encourage the children to learn through play inside and out, and getting a wider variety of experiences including frost, rain, hail, snow and mud! Please do not put your children in clothing or shoes that you do not want to get dirty!

Do you have a curriculum? What kind of activities do you provide?

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage which is recognized as the teaching standard for the under fives. We incorporate this with our children’s interests to form the basis of our activities. We provide a range of activities to support every area of development and the children have access to the outdoor area daily.

Do you cater for dietary requirements / what is your menu?

On application for a place we ask you to provide information of dietary requirements and/or known allergies to ensure individual needs are catered for. We have a balanced menu, cooked on-site, ensuring that we meet provide all food groups throughout the day. Copies of our menus can be viewed on the menu section of this website.

What is the availability at Little Angels?

It’s always best to phone the nursery directly to get the most up-to-date availability as things change pretty quickly.

What are your opening hours?

Monday to Friday 7.30am – 6.00pm

How do I pay the monthly nursery fee?

You can pay direct into the Little Angels bank account or we accept cash or cheque.

How often are the fees of the nursery revised?

Our nursery fees are reviewed on an annual basis.

Is it too early to book a place for my baby?

It’s never too early to book your childcare so the earlier the better. Early placement also gives you peace of mind that things are organised for you when you have to finally go back to work.

What is the minimum I can book my child in for?

For the child’s sake and to ensure that they get the best out of us, a minimum of two sessions per week is needed to be booked with the nursery. These can be two half day sessions or full days but they need to be spaced apart for the children’s wellbeing. Two half day sessions can’t be added together to make one day so that they only attend one full day a week as this is not the best for your child.
